We call on the U.S. President and Congress to suspend all military and foreign aid, including loans and grants, to Israel until Israel withdraws from the Occupied Territories, dismantles the separation wall in the Occupied West Bank including East Jerusalem, ends its siege of Gaza and dismantles settler colonies and systemic apartheid toward its non-Jewish citizens.

I view helping our houseless neighbors as a moral obligation, a matter of social justice, and a matter of good politics. I view enforced homelessness as a societal failing and a crime against humanity. I believe that no one deserves to be deprived of basic human necessities. I believe that homelessness as an involuntary condition must be abolished.

We must protect our environment and our federal lands.
The wisdom of the indigenous people of this land holds that we should consider the next seven generations when we make decisions. Long-term planning promotes sustainability over short-sighted choices that compromise our responsibility to the welfare of our children.
It's not enough to take good positions on the environment some of the time. We need representatives we can count on to be good on environmental issues all of the time. The health of our communities depend on clean air and water.
Our current representative has demonstrated she's willing to ignore the advice of environmental organizations when it suits her and her donors. I’ll give you a few examples.
Against the advice of 131 environmental organizations, Rep. Hoyle voted to give away public lands to mining corporations (HR 2925).
Against the advice of more than 80 environmental organizations, Rep. Hoyle voted YEA on the “Fix Our Forests Act” (HR 471).
And if you've been around long enough, you may remember her support for the Jordan Cove project which would have threatened our clean water, all to provide 14 permanent jobs. Thankfully, activists were able to thwart those efforts. Referred to as a “pro-pipeline” candidate, Hoyle supported the project even though it was opposed by environmental groups, Oregon Tribes, and members of her own party.
Regarding HR 2925, in April of 2024, environmental groups wrote, “The Mining Regulatory Clarity Act represents an unprecedented, de facto giveaway of America’s cherished public lands to mining corporations, upending and reversing over one hundred years of public land law precedent.”
Once you give away our federal lands, you're never getting them back.
Regarding HR 471, Earthjustice Senior Legislative Representative Blaine Miller-McFeeley issued the following statement: “We certainly want to protect communities from wildfires, but this bill is not the answer. Instead of providing impacted communities with the proven tools and techniques they need to keep themselves safe, this bill is nothing more than a trojan horse for gutting bedrock environmental laws dressed up under the more palatable guise of wildfire management. True forest management requires engaging communities and utilizing proven best practices, not opening our lands to more reckless logging operations. We urge the Senate to reject this bill.”
We’ve had enough with corporate sellouts. We will always prioritize people and the planet over profits. Our office will take the concerns of environmentalists seriously, not just give it good lip service during the election cycle. We are prepared to work with advocates to draft legislation that creates and reinforces strong protections for our environment, our federal lands, and our forests. You can trust me to listen to our environmental advocates, because I am an environmental advocate!

For decades, we chose to elect political leaders who put the material interests of the rich and powerful above those of the American people. We can do better.
We now have a political system that rewards politicians who sell us out, and punishes principled candidates who refuse to be bribed. Because, let's be real, in effect, this is legalized bribery. These big donors aren't giving out of the good of their hearts. They're donating because they expect a return on their investment.
If we accept the premise that our government is corrupted by the monied interests of billionaires and corporations, and we admit that both major parties are owned and operated by those monied interests, then it follows that we must build people power outside the duopoly.
